The warm air, the irresistible scent of sunscreen and saltwater, the bliss of long, lazy days at the beach, of sun-soaked skin, and endless nights spent on patios...it's no wonder we can't wait till the COVID-19 pandemic is over.
It's no secret that all the fun under the sun takes a toll on our bodies and even on our hair. Sometimes, our hair is something we often forget to give some TLC. We slather our skin with sunscreen, but how about our hair? How do you keep your crowning glory from getting sun-damaged?
So today, we've listed four easy ways you can keep your hair healthy and shiny this summer.
1. Moisturize and nourish your hair with a hair mask.
Continuous sun exposure can leave your hair and scalp extremely dried. So to keep this from happening, make sure to moisturize your hair weekly with a treatment mask. Oh, and even if your hair isn't dried out yet, you can take this as an excellent preventative measure!
2. Do not overwash.
Yes, it's hot, and you probably want to take a cold shower twice a day. It's important to keep in mind that overwashing can leave your hair stripped of all it's natural oils. Instead, try spritzing some dry shampoo every other day to keep that crown fresh.
3. If you're using heat-styling tools, don't forget to apply for hair protection
Applying heat directly to your hair can be super damaging, so if you plan to use your hairdryers flat or curling irons this summer, prep your hair correctly and be sure to protect your hair with a generous coat of these products.
4. Don't skip SPF.
Yes, there are SPF products for hair, too! They often come in a mist or oil that protects your hair from UV rays and heat. The best part? They leave your hair glossy and shiny all day long!
